An assurance Wellingtonians will start seeing action, now its transport plan's under the microscope

An improvement plan has been introduced following a scathing review of the 6.4 billion dollar Let's Get Wellington Moving.

It includes an independent chair being appointed to the board, three new leadership positions, and a commitment to getting spades in the ground this year.

Wellington Mayor Andy Foster says it's a start, after countless issues were uncovered.

He says they included large numbers of positions filled with temporary contractors.
