Ted Danson is returning for a second season of 'A Man On The Inside'

The 76-year-old actor plays a retired San Francisco professor called Charles, who ends up helping a private detective agency by going undercover at an assisted living facility to solve a crime, and now Netflix has recommissioned the show for another series

Creator and showrunner Michael Shur told Netflix's Tudum: "We are thrilled to make another season of 'A Man on the Inside', starring young up-and-comer Ted Danson.

"From our partners at Netflix and Universal TV to the writers, cast, and crew, it's a truly exceptional team of talented and lovely people, with one notable exception (young up-and-comer Ted Danson, who's kind of a nightmare)."

The second season is set to air in 2025.

Tracey Pakosta - Netflix's head of comedy - added: "We're passionate about all types of comedy at Netflix.

"This allows us to take bold swings on creators and bet big on talent who want to share new stories with the largest possible audience."

Schur - who also worked with Ted on 'The Good Place' - had been hopeful for a second season.

He recently told TV Insider: "We're trying not to count chickens before they hatch and, you know, we won't know about the future until we know about the future.

"But I will say that making the first season was super fun... It was really a rewarding experience...

"So, there is no shortage of ideas if the premise is Ted Danson as an undercover detective. Give me as many seasons as you want and I'll fill them. I promise."

Meanwhile, Ted - who previously starred in the likes of 'Cheers' and 'Becker' - recently revealed his hope for life is to live "right up until" he dies.

He told People magazine: "One of my joys, and I've been able to do it in life several times, is to use my age and what I'm going through in life and explore that.

"What is it like to be 76 and be funny, trying to be funny? What does that feel like? Oh my God, [the] greatest joy is to be funny possibly in every possible way I can...

"You can still do anything even at our age, and one of the things you have to teach them is how to die, and how to live right up until you do.

"Don't call it quits, don't wind down, keep going. The world needs you. So that to me is one of the great messages of this piece. It's something that I hope for myself."
