The property market is slowing down despite an increase in sales

Real Estate Institute of New Zealand's latest figures show the median price declined by 1.1 percent in April compared to the same time last year - dropping to 781 thousand dollars.

The number of properties sold increased by 9.5 percent.

Acting Chief Executive Rowan Dixon says prices continue to decline - with 38 thousand properties on the market across the country.
