Debbie Harry has described cosmetic surgery as necessary for her career

The Blondie singer, 80, spoke candidly to Vanity Fair about her decision to undergo plastic surgery, saying it helped her feel more confident and better about herself.

She revealed: "As far as me having cosmetic surgery, it made me feel better about myself. Maybe it made me feel happy, or more confident."

Debbie added the procedures were something she felt she needed at the time.

She said: "I wanted to work, and so much of women being attractive, and being a selling point, is clearly showbiz.

"If you're going to be in the business, be in it."

Debbie also reflected on the pressure entertainers face regarding their appearance, noting cosmetic surgery now starts at much younger ages.

"It's not like I started having cosmetic surgery as a kid in school - I think nowadays a lot of girls are getting cosmetic surgery when they're 10, 11 years old," she said.

Debbie added: "God bless if it improves their lives and they feel happy."

Her openness follows a recent wave of celebrities discussing their own cosmetic procedures.

Khloe Kardashian, 41, recently responded in the comments of a reel by Dr Jonathan Betteridge, detailing her nose job and what she described as "salmon sperm facials".

Kylie Jenner, 27, has also revealed the specifics of her breast augmentation after a TikTok user asked about her "most perfect, natural boob job ever".

Jenner wrote online: "445 cc, moderate profile, half under the muscle!!!!! silicone!!!"

Meanwhile, Kris Jenner, 69, praised her surgeon Dr Garth Fisher in an Instagram comment, recalling her first facelift in 2011.

"You made it the most amazing experience ever and even gave us access to film so that others could get a peek inside what it's like and not be afraid," Kris said.

Fans have compared Kris' refreshed look to her supermodel daughter Kendall, 29.

A representative confirmed Dr Steven Levine of New York is responsible for Kris' youthful appearance.

Kristin Cavallari, 38, recently shared details of her breast augmentation on Instagram Stories, saying: "I was 300 cc before and now I'm 340.

"Everyone thinks I went a lot bigger but I've just pushed them up a couple of times since getting them done."
