Gwyneth Paltrow "started saving clothes" for her daughter Apple 20 years before she was born

The Hollywood actress, 53, first became a mom in 2004 when she welcomed Apple with her former husband Chris Martin and their son Moses followed in 2006 - and Gwyneth has now revealed she longed to have a girl who could inherit her luxury wardrobe of designer clothes

She told Vogue magazine: "Weirdly, I started saving clothes for Apple about 15, 20 years before she was born. I don't just see a top, I'll see a moment in my life and all the circumstances surrounding it.

"I've always saved everything in hopes that I had a daughter one day who would want to go in there."

Gwyneth's hard work paid off as Apple,21, now enjoys borrowing her mother's clothes - especially her 1990s pieces from Calvin Klein and Prada - but the college student admits she sometimes struggles to squeeze her feet into the actress' shoes.

Apple told the publication: "Her shoes are ridiculous except sometimes they don't fit. I have large feet, which is kind of sad, but the pairs that I can fit into, I take all of them."

Gwyneth and Apple are currently starring in their first fashion campaign together - becoming the face of Zac Posen's GapStudio collection for high street giant Gap.

Apple - who is also the face of UK fashion brand Self-Portrait - recently admitted she has been "very anxious about making mistakes" because of the scrutiny she's faced throughout her life.

She told Interview magazine: "It's interesting because I grew up with that uneven balance of getting out of the airport with my mom and being bombarded with cameras, and then just being a normal kid.

"I remember I read Discipline and Punish [by Michel Foucault], which is a great book, but talking about the surveillance state - I feel like I've grown up with that, which is really scary and makes me very anxious about making mistakes.

"So I was really discouraged from doing anything in the public eye. Also, I was like, 'I don't think we need another celebrity child in the world.'

"I just try to do what feels right and block out anything regarding me in the news to the best of my ability. And I'm getting a lot better at being like, 'F*** it'. I'm not going to be scared. I just want to do what seems fun and figure my life out."
