Taylor Momsen is unlikely to return to acting

The 32-year-old star stepped away from the profession after leaving the teen drama series Gossip Girl in 2010 to pursue her musical ambitions with her rock band The Pretty Reckless and isn't interested in making a return to the screen - although she hasn't ruled out the move completely.

Taylor told People: "No. I mean, I've learned to never say never in life anymore, because life is too bizarre. That's what I figured out in my 32 years."

The How the Grinch Stole Christmas actress added: "But it's not something that I care to pursue."

Momsen explained that she is focused on her work with The Pretty Reckless, as the band will be supporting iconic rockers AC/DC on their Power Up Tour dates this year.

She said: "I think I'm cool. I think I'm going to tour with AC/DC.

"I'm having a really good time in life. I love making music. Acting was a childhood thing and music is something... that I always pursued for myself. There's no character involved.

"I don't like being someone's pawn. I like being in charge. I like writing songs. That's everything."

Taylor previously recalled how studio bosses called her "ungrateful" when she was trying to leave her role as Jenny Humphrey in Gossip Girl.

She told the Call Her Daddy podcast: "It started with a, 'I don't wanna do this anymore,' but you are in a lock and key contract with CW Warner Brothers, you know, all of that stuff.

"It was a very long battle of me arguing with everyone and going, 'Get me outta this. I can't do this anymore. This is killing me. I have something else I want to do with my life and it has nothing to do with this and I can't be stuck here anymore.' "

However, the Spy Kids 2 star claimed ex ecutives at Warner Bros. Television had an angry reaction to her request.

She said: "You're called ungrateful and you're called all the things that come along with, 'How dare you turn your back on something that's been so successful for you.' "

Momsen had a defiant response, admitting she was "very defensive" at the time.

She recalled: "I just went, 'F*** you. You don't know what you're talking about. You're not in my shoes, so how dare you judge this?'

"I was very defensive, but it came down to they wouldn't let me outta the contract. The head of Warner Bros. said, 'F*** Taylor Momsen. No f****** way.' "
