A former Bay of Plenty lawyer has pleaded guilty to fraudulently claiming nearly 375 thousand dollars legal support

A former Bay of Plenty lawyer has pleaded guilty to fraudulently claiming nearly 375 thousand dollars legal support

The Serious Fraud Office found Paulette Main submitted more than 1200 false claims, for 26 clients, to the Family Legal Advice Service between 2017-and-2022.

The Ministry of Justice scheme funds lawyers to give out-of-court advice in Care of Children Act disputes - to help parties without court intervention.

In one instance, she used a deceased person's details to claim nearly 17 thousand dollars.
