Jeremy Renner was in a "very different place" ahead of making the new season of Mayor of Kingstown

The 54-year-old actor suffered over 30 broken bones, a lacerated liver and a collapsed lung in January 2023 when he was run over by his snowplough, and he admitted he was "really excited" to get to work on season four of the drama because he was in full health, unlike last year when he was still recovering from the accident

He told Extra: "I was really excited coming in because I was in a very different place mentally, physically, emotionally."

The show was filmed in winter, which Jeremy found particularly difficult.

He said: "It was a very long winter. I think we had four days of sunshine the entire five months."

Jeremy admitted his accident has improved the relationships with the people he has in his life, such as the "deeper" bond he shares with co-star Hugh Dillon.

He said: "We met on 'Wind River" and then, you know, the accident really kind of did it. We got much closer like every relationship I have in my life. It's gotten deeper and he's wonderful, sort of ally, as a friend, as a co-worker and developing more stuff...

"He was much more of a champion for me, like, 'How do we protect you to come back,' and that kind of stuff... He's a big reason why I came back."

The Hurt Locker actor previously credited sheer willpower for helping him pull through after his accident.

He told The Guardian newspaper: "I was bullying my body into thinking it wasn't that bad and my mind was overcoming the greatest odds it's ever come up against. My mind was saying, 'Nah!', it's part stubbornness. 'I don't want to lose this battle, this game', but the deeper part, the zoomed-out part, is I had so much to live for. I had a bunch of people waiting for me to go skiing!

"I didn't want to let them down. That became such a big thing."

Jeremy was unable to walk for two months after the accident but revealed that he only has a small number of scars as a result of the surgery he had.

He said: " I have a bunch of little scars, but only from the surgery to save my body. The whole leg is titanium from the knee down to the ankle."

The Tag actor explained that his mouth continues to be in considerable pain.

He said: "My mouth is complete chaos.

"It looks fine, but when I bite down it feels as if I'm going to break all my teeth."
