Doubts cast on the mosque terrorist's claims of poor mental health - as he tries to vacate his pleas in the Court of Appeal

Its three judges have heard today from an expert on solitary confinement, a corrections officer, and two lawyers.

Swinburne University Professor James Ogloff says Brenton Tarrant's prison conditions could have been worse - although isolation is never positive.

But Ronald Mansfield KC - who represented Tarrant during a Coronial hearing - told the court he willingly engaged with him because the conditions were unsatisfactory.

Human rights barrister Tony Ellis also told the court he refused to represent Tarrant at appeal, because he didn't want to just be his mouthpiece.
