A new rescue helicopter pad in the Mackenzie District, is the work of the community

Fairlie farmer Andrew Hurst led community efforts, raising more than 90-thousand dollars to upgrade the long overdue landing spot.

He says it was a more complex task than he anticipated - with the process taking more than six months.

Hurst was motivated after unexpectedly becoming a rescue chopper patient himself, following a farm accident.
