Victoria Police are hunting an armed and dangerous fugitive - said to have killed two officers in cold blood

Victoria Police are hunting an armed and dangerous fugitive - said to have killed two officers in cold blood

Chief commissioner Mike Bush says the 59-year-old detective and 35-year-old senior constable were shot dead in an ambush in the rural town of Porepunkah .

They'd been among 10 officers carrying out a search warrant at a property where the suspect lives.

Bush says the man fled on foot - and his wife and children are also missing.

He says Police's priority is arresting the man - to hold him to account for his actions, and bring safety and security to the community.
