Indian batter Virat Kohli has retired from test cricket

Indian batter Virat Kohli has retired from test cricket

The 36-year-old's career spanned 123 matches in the red-ball format, across more than 13 years.

He won 40 out of 68 tests as skipper and finishes with 9,230 runs at an average of 46.85, including 30 centuries.

That leaves him fourth on the list of Indian run-scorers behind Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Sunil Gavaskar.

The news comes ahead of India's five-test series against England and follows former captain Rohit Sharma's exit last week.
