Seven people have been injured, two critically in a two vehicle crash near Taupo this afternoon

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Broadlands Road, and Off Road Highway, just after 3pm.

A St Johns spokesperson says two patients in a critical condition were airlifted to Waikato Hospital and one person in a serious condition was airlifted to Rotorua Hospital.

They say three people in a moderate condition were taken to Taupo hospital via ambulance and one person in a minor condition was treated at the scene.

The intersection remains closed.
