Cars are about to become more a rarity in central Wellington

Cars are about to become more a rarity in central Wellington

City councillors have voted today for a business case to ban private vehicles in the capital's golden mile.

The strip between Lambton Quay to Courtney Place will prioritise pedestrians - and run buses on a single lane in each direction.

It's part of the city's 6.4 billion dollar Let's get Wellington Moving transport plan.
