Australia are 311 for 6 at stumps on the opening day of the fourth cricket test against India in Melbourne

Australia are 311 for 6 at stumps on the opening day of the fourth cricket test against India in Melbourne

Teenage opener Sam Konstas set the early agenda for the hosts, making 60 from 65 balls on debut.

The 19-year-old was also involved in a fiery encounter with India's Virat Kohli, with the pair clashing shoulders at the end of the 10th over and exchanging words, before the umpires and fellow opener Usman Khawaja stepped in.

Kohli has been fined 20 per cent of his match fee for the incident.

Australia were led by Marnus Labuschagne's 72, while Steve Smith - who will resume at the crease alongside skipper Pat Cummins - is on 68.

Day two gets underway at 12.30.
