    A man who's on the run from Police in Taupo, is now facing a charge of escaping from custody


    Police say 30-year-old Samir Derek Belhajjam fled a transport vehicle about six o'clock last night, after appearing at Taupo District Court.

    Newstalk ZB's Lachlan Rennie says he was wearing green prison-issue shorts and an orange hi-vis vest.

    He says Police are warning people not to approach the man, and to call 111 immediately if they see him.
