The PGA Tour have ditched the controversial starting-strokes format from its Tour Championship season finale in August

The PGA Tour have ditched the controversial starting-strokes format from its Tour Championship season finale in August

Since 2019, golfers were given a lower starting score based on their spot in the season-long FedEx Cup standings, with the leader starting the tournament on 10-under.

From this year's finale, all 30 players will start at even-par and the winner will take the FedEx Cup.

World number one and reigning winner Scottie Scheffler had previously described the format as "gimmicky".
