Several changes to Otago public transport could be on the way

Several changes to Otago public transport could be on the way

The Regional Council's deciding whether to discontinue free children's bus fares, increase adult fares and other changes at a meeting today.

A report by a hearings panel recommends raising the adult fare from two-dollars to two-dollars fifty.

The council will also consider adding new services which connect Wanaka and Upper Clutha, Wanaka and Queenstown, and Oamaru and Dunedin.

Despite community interest in rail solutions, the panel's concluded there's not enough evidence to include rail in the plan.
