Katy Perry dedicated her American Music Awards performance to her father, Keith Hudson

The 36-year-old singer returned to the stage for the first time since welcoming her daughter Daisy Dove Bloom - whose father is actor Orlando Bloom - into the world in August

Katy was joined by former Hootie and the Blowfish frontman Darius Rucker for a “reimagined” rendition of her track 'Only Love' from her latest LP 'Smile'.

Ahead of the debut performance of the track at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday night (22.11.20), the pop megastar revealed the performance was a tribute to her parent.

Alongside a snap of Katy as a baby in her dad's arms, she wrote on Instagram: "tonight’s @amas performance is for my father (sic)"

The AMAs - which were hosted by Taraji P. Henson - featured a number of dazzling performances from the likes of Dua Lipa, The Weeknd, Megan Thee Stallion, Nelly, and BTS.

Dua - who couldn't be in Los Angeles due to travel restrictions amid the coronavirus pandemic - wowed as she levitated off the stage at the Royal Albert Hall in London during her performance of her hit single, 'Levitating'.

The Weeknd - who took home three prizes on the night for Favourite Male Soul/R&B Artist, Favourite Soul/R&B Song for 'Heartless' and Favourite Soul/R&B Album for 'After Hours' - performed outside of the venue in downtown LA.

The 'Blinding Lights' hitmaker gave the world premiere performance of ‘In Your Eyes’ and ‘Save Your Tears’ with Kenny G.

A street was closed off for the performance, which saw the Canadian musician don bandages on his face as pyrotechnics were set off all around him.

Jennifer Lopez and Maluma put on a smouldering set as they gave the world premiere performance of 'Pa' Ti' and 'Lonely', which they co-wrote for their upcoming rom-com, 'Marry Me'.

South Korean boy band BTS also dazzled as they performed 'Life Goes On' for the first time, as well as hit single 'Dynamite' at Seoul's Olympic Stadium.

In an evening of firsts, Billie Eilish also performed 'Therefore I Am' for the first time and turned the stage red as she walked through a maze of hallways before joining her brother and producer Finneas and drummer Andrew Marshall.

The evening kicked off with Justin Bieber and Shawn Mendes giving the debut performance of their collaboration ‘Monster’, while the former also performed his solo tracks ‘Lonely’ and ‘Holy’.

Taylor Swift, The Weeknd and Dan + Shay were the big winners of the night, taking home three prizes apiece.
