Mark Te Kira died in April last year, after an altercation with Mikaele Ah Fook near Great South Road in Papatoetoe.
Ah Fook pleaded guilty to manslaughter in October and participated in a traditional Samoan forgiveness ceremony in December.
In an emotional victim impact statement in the High Court at Auckland today, Te Kira's daughter asked for a non-custodial outcome for her father's killer.
She says facing what has happened is already enough.
