All Whites defender Tommy Smith is returning to English football

Smith has signed on at Sunderland, now in the third tier, until the end of the 2019-20 campaign.

Smith last played for Major League Soccer side Colorado.

He's previously played for Ipswich Town, Stevenage, Brentford and Colchester United in English football.

Smith could be included overnight against Bristol Rovers if his clearance is received in time.
