The newest Covid-19 vaccine uses a non-harmful, disabled virus from chimpanzees

The AstraZeneca/Oxford University vaccine is 90 percent effective if the doses are tweaked.

It can be stored in a normal fridge and is much cheaper than Pfizer's and Moderna's vaccines.

University of Leeds virology Professor Stephen Griffin says the virus AstraZeneca uses in its vaccine, has had part of its genetic material removed, and replaced with a payload from SARS coronavirus 2.

He says it uses the virus to get into cells and elicit an immune response.
