More vaccination would help fight the flu

More vaccination would help fight the flu

Local Democracy reports Counties Manukau DHB is predicting the flu season could last till August.

Free jab access has been widened to another 800 thousand New Zealanders from July.

Immunisation Advisory Centre Medical Director Nikki Turner says any further extension could be tricky, with vaccine fatigue on top of logistical issues.

But she says one group would really benefit - children, because they tend to get it badly.
