Ariana Grande spent thousands on a night out with her team to celebrate her Oscar nomination

The 31-year-old pop singer is in the running for an Academy Award for her role as Glinda in the screen adaptation of the hit Broadway musical 'Wicked' and is said to have taken out her team in London during a recent press tour after hearing the news and picked up the entire bill

A source told The Sun newspaper's Bizarre column: "Ariana is riding so high at the moment and she wanted to share the love with her team, who work so hard for her.

"She hired out The Aubrey, which is a really posh sushi restaurant, where they put on a private dining experience.

"As well as marking Ariana's Oscar nomination, it was her manager's birthday, so Ari made it a double celebration.

"She had the Ukiyo room hired just for them.

"They were served specially selected dishes like slow-cooked lobster and Wagyu with caviarThe drinks were flowing too, with champagne and cocktails.

"The bill came to more than £6,000 and Ari picked up the entire tab.

"It was such a special night for them all and marked a celebration of everything Ariana and her team have achieved over the past year."

'Wicked' is the unofficial prequel to 'The Wizard of Oz', and Ariana took to social media after receiving the news of her nomination to admit that she "couldn't stop crying", especially because the 1939 classic starring Judy Garland meant so much to her as a child.

She wrote on Instagram: "picking my head up in between sobs to say thank you so much to @theacademy for this unfathomable recognition. i cannot stop crying, to no one's surprise. i'm humbled and deeply honored to be in such brilliant company and sharing this with tiny ari who sat and studied Judy Garland singing Somewhere Over the Rainbow just before the big, beautiful bubble entered. i'm so proud of you, tiny.

thank you again, from the bottom of my heart, for this acknowledgement @theacademy."
