The member of the public killed in a crash with a fleeing driver in Auckland's Penrose was a Filipino immigrant

The member of the public killed in a crash with a fleeing driver in Auckland's Penrose was a Filipino immigrant

Police say the driver and another person were also critically injured.

Auckland Filipino community leader, Dennis Magcalas , says the man's family is working to get his body home for a funeral.

He says the man -- in his late 40s to early 50s -- had travelled to New Zealand to set up a new life for his family, who were eventually going to move.
