Some parts of the country are bracing for more heavy weather, less than a week on from severe flooding

Orange Warnings have been issued for Nelson, Tasman and Marlborough, along with Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, Taihape and Mount Taranaki.

A month's worth of rain is expected in the next 48 hours.

Residents on Tasman's Old Mill Road and Tapawera have been warned they may need to self-evacuate.

Nelson-Tasman Civil Defence Controller Alec Louverdis says there's extra Defence Force and Search and Rescue staff in the region.
