The annual Civil Contractors Conference is happening at a time of challenges for the sector

The two day conference kicks off in Tauranga today.

It will feature speeches, workshops, networking opportunities and a cross party political panel.

Chief Executive Allan Pollard says a slowdown in work is one of the biggest issues with delivering infrastructure at the moment.

He says over the past year, more than 15 thousand people across the construction sector have left the industry.
