Christchurch councillors are keen for the city to become the home of the national Erebus Memorial

Christchurch councillors are keen for the city to become the home of the national Erebus Memorial

Cashmere's Cracroft Reserve and the bank of the Avon River are the two sites on offer, to remember the plane that crashed in Antarctica, killing 257 people in 1979.

The offer stands for 12-months to enable further investigations and engagement with family members.
