    Parts of the country are taking a battering from wind today..


    MetService has issued yellow warnings with heavy rain and northwest gales hitting southern and central areas.

    The Transport Agency's urging road users to take care, with a specific warnings for State Highway 8, between Geraldine and Omarama.

    Meteorologist Mmathapelo Makgabutlane says strong winds will continue throughout the day, particularly in the South Island.
