Busy times at SPCA sites across the country, as pet adoptions lag

They're under pressure during kitten season, and are caring for thousands of animals - from cats and dogs, to horses and rats.
The number of people giving pets new homes fell 8.7 percent this year, compared to 2024.
Animal Services General Manager Corey Regenerus-Kell says dog surrenders are up 16 percent.
He says this is probably driven by cost of living pressures, where people can't afford veterinary care.
