Malachi Subecz's mother has broken down in tears as she recalls the final phone call with her murdered son

A coronial inquiry is underway into the five year-old's death after he suffered months of abuse by his carer in 2021.

He'd complained to his mother about pains and a sore head - which the carer said was from a fall at daycare.

Jasmine Cotter says she worried because Malachi sounded very, very sad - and in hindsight, was trying to tell her about the abuse.
