Auckland residents are shocked by the death of a man, following a violent assault

Emergency services were called to reports of someone being attacked by more than one person, on St Johns Road just after 10pm.

    A 33-year-old man's died in hospital.

The offenders are believed to have left the area in a vehicle, travelling towards Remuera Road.

Herald reporter Isaac Davison, says a cordon and a blue forensic tent has been set up.

He says neighbours say they didn't hear anything last night, and only became aware when they saw police lights and sirens.
