Annie Lennox isn't taking medication for her ADHD

The 70-year-old star was only recently diagnosed with ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) - which can cause problems with concentration and sitting still - and she insisted while she wouldn't want to influence other people, she's decided on her own "approach" to handling the condition

She told Saga magazine: "I've chosen not to take medication, but I have to stress that it's my own personal decision and not a directive for anyone else.

"Everyone has to approach these things in their own way."

Annie opened up on being diagnosed after her 70th birthday, and reflected on the early signs during her childhood.

She said: "I put myself in for a test and passed with flying colours. I kept reading about it and realised I had all the described characteristics.

"When I was a kid, I was constantly being told off for daydreaming as if it was a crime.

"I'm drawn towards anything shiny, sparkly and colourful - even talking about colour makes me feel excited."

The Sweet Dreams hitmaker revealed her main goal in life now is to "stay healthy", although she would rather eat lots of chocolate instead of exercising.

She admitted: "My number one goal is to stay healthy so that I can continue to make a contribution to the world.

"I'm not fond of exercise, but do it twice a week because I have to.

"If I could, I would just lie in bed with boxes of chocolates, but I know that isn't really an option."

Annie also offered some advice for other women, insisted they shouldn't "let fear hold you back".

She said: "Don't let fear hold you back - whether that's fear of flying, fear of loss, fear of the future, fear of leaving a bad marriage, fear of public speaking or whatever it is.

"You have to face things, have faith in what you're doing at just go for it."
