Wunmi Mosaku wants to make women feel "seen and represented" with her maternity line

The Sinners actress - who is pregnant with her second child - has been working on Iyadé for over a year after growing frustrated with the lack of availability of stylish maternity clothes for expectant mothers and she hopes it will empower shoppers when it goes on sale.

Speaking of the line, whose name translates from Yoruba to 'mother has arrived', she told Vogue.co.uk: "I want to spotlight mothers and make them feel beautiful, seen and represented."

Wunmi won Best Supporting Actress at the BAFTA Awards on Sunday (22.02.26) and attended the London ceremony in a floor-length electric blue dress by Priya Ahluwalia, which ensured she felt both comfortable and fashionable.

Her stylist Shameelah Hicks said: "We go for comfort but we don't want to look like we are wearing maternity clothes."

Wunmi added: "It's fashion that happens to be pregnancy-friendly."

But there is one aspect of red carpet dressing that can prove tricky for the actress in her pregnancy.

She noted: ""It's actually really difficult to get cute flat shoes."

Opting for Ahluwalia - who draws on her Nigerian and Indian heritage in her work - was also important for the Loki actress.

Wunmi, who is Nigerian and British, said: "I really like representing my two cultures. I like wearing Black designers as much as possible."

During her acceptance speech at the BAFTAS, Wunmi made sure to thank husband Tash Moseley and their young daughter, who was born in 2024.

She said: "To my daughter, you are my greatest teacher. I am most proud of you. Everything begins and ends with you.

"To my mom, dad and sisters, niece and nephews. I love you all.

"Mum, thank you for all you have sacrificed, for your protection and your unwavering faith in God's plan.

"Much like Aesop's Fable, the son and the wind, you shine, you beamed love, and gave me the freedom to make my own choices and dare to dream...

"Tash, thank you for always seeing that potential in me, long before I saw it in myself, or believed myself. Thank you for reminding me to tap in daily. ?I love you."

Mosaku went on to praise Sinners director Ryan Coogler's talent.

She said: "Ryan, like Creature Boy, your gift comes from home, and it is big, conjuring spirits from the past and future.

"I felt the presence of the ancestors' pride and joy daily on your set.

"Your commitment to artistry, truth and humanity is to be treasured and protected at all costs."
