New Zealand captain Kane Williamson's asking his pace bowlers to get creative in Kanpur

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson's asking his pace bowlers to get creative in Kanpur

The first test of the two-match series against India starts this afternoon.

The Black Caps played three spinners in their 2016 loss at the venue when 26 of the 35 wickets fell to turn.

However, Williamson wants at least two, and possibly three, of the Tim Southee-Neil Wagner-Kyle Jamieson trio to wave a magic wand over the rough ball.

New Zealand are yet to win an away test series against India in 11 attempts.

The toss is set for 4:30pm with first ball at 5.
