Black Caps cricket coach Rob Walter's explained the selection of pace bowler Matt Fisher as part of his test squad for two non-World Championship matches against Zimbabwe starting this month

The 25-year-old came into consideration with Kyle Jamieson and Ben Sears unavailable.

Fisher took 14 wickets at an average of 17.71 from three Plunket Shield matches last season.

Walter says one reason stood out.

Walter also coached Fisher on a development tour to India in 2022.
