    A passenger plane carrying 49 people has crashed in Russia's far easter region of Amur


    Local authorities say the the twin-engine Antonov-24, operated by Angara Airlines, was headed to the town of Tynda when it disappeared from radar.

    AFP reports a rescue helicopter later spotted the burning fuselage of the plane on a mountainside - about 16 kilometres from the the town.

    Local rescuers say it saw no evidence of survivors.

    The region's civil defence agency says it's dispatching more rescuers to the scene.
