The increasing value of New Zealand's red meat is ensuring positive results, despite a dip in export volumes

The increasing value of New Zealand's red meat is ensuring positive results, despite a dip in export volumes

The Meat Industry Association says strong European demand for sheepmeat helped lift exports to 864-million dollars in July, marking another good month for the sector.

While combined sheepmeat and beef export volumes were seven-percent lower than the year before, export values increased 19-percent.

Association chief executive Sirma Karapeeva says the European Union was a stand out market, with value growing 34-percent to 85-million dollars.
