Open Justice reports 60-year-old Abel Wira's been sentenced to three years and six months jail time, after his dogs mauled Neville Thompson in August 2022.
Wira had been staying with Thompson in Panguru, at the time, and keeping his 23 dogs confined in a caravan.
They hadn't been fed in two days when they escaped and attacked.
In a victim impact statement, Thompson's daughter urged authorities to strengthen regulations and ensure dog owners are held accountable for their animal's care.
