More boaties are visiting Aotea-Great Barrier Island, ignoring level 4 lockdown rules

More boaties are visiting Aotea-Great Barrier Island, ignoring level 4 lockdown rules

While New Zealand Police and other agencies have reminded boaties to stay off the water during the lockdown, some are still visiting Aotea.

They say Aotea cannot support an influx of visitors during the lockdown period when everyone should be staying home..

Inspector Grant Tetzlaff, of Auckland City Police, says the Health Notice is quite clear in that recreational maritime activities - like boating or fishing - are not permitted at this time.
