Police will be carrying firearms in the Wairoa area -- after a spate of gun incidents

Multiple charges have been laid after shots were fired at a car on Lucknow Street yesterday.

A 19-year-old man charged with possessing an offensive weapon appeared in Gisborne District Court today.

Another two men, aged 19 and 23, were charged with unlawful assembly and assault, on another matter, and appeared in court today.

Last night, a man was treated for a gunshot wound at Wairoa Hospital in another incident.

There have been more reports firearms have been presented, but not discharged.

Police say these events involve people targeting each other.
