The country's latest alert level move has claimed its first major sporting victim

Athletics New Zealand has confirmed the national track and field championships that were due to start on Friday in Hawke's Bay have been canned.

The body is currently discussing options to potentially reschedule the event.

Meanwhile, New Zealand cricket's confirmed Friday's Twenty20 doubleheader featuring the White Ferns and England, and Black Caps and Australia has been moved from Auckland to Wellington.

All remaining international and domestic matches will be played behind closed doors.

The Silver Ferns upcoming Constellation Cup series with Australia and Super Rugby are likely to fall under a similar criteria.
