More than 150 patients over the age of 80 were discharged from hospital between 1 and 8 in the morning in January alone.
The problem is being blamed on a lack of beds and management matters.
Dr Shane Reti says it's unacceptable.
Dr Reti says says families may be unable to prepare for those being discharged so early.
