    Confirmation that the man accused of fatally stabbing a Christchurch woman, is a mental health patient - is being seen as a reflection of a society under huge pressure


    Laisa Maraia Waka was attacked as she walked home from the bus in Sockburn on Saturday.

    Canterbury DHB has launched a review into how the accused killer was allowed out of Hillmorton Hospital's psychiatric facility on community leave.

    The Collaborative Trust's senior educator Dame Sue Bagshaw says the hospital system needs more staff.

    She says no one reacted to that 30 years ago, when they should have .
