Belief more time is needed to better understand the impact of an on-street parking trial near Christchurch Hospital

For the past six months, 18 free on-street car parks have been opened up as part of a clearway trial along Hagley Avenue from 7.30pm to 7.30am.

A possible extension is being discussed at a council meeting today.

Councillor Aaron Keown , who advocated for the trial, says usage was low at the beginning, because people weren't aware of the parks.

He says now the word's been past around to nurses and hospital visitors.
