Elizabeth Berkley has embraced her Showgirls style for a new Betsey Johnson fashion campaign inspired by the 1995 movie

The 53-year-old actress played an erotic dancer working in Las Vegas in the movie and she's now marked 30 years since the film's release by posing in the new Showgirls-style holiday ads for the fashion brand.

Berkley told PEOPLE: "There are so many magical things about this campaign. Celebrating the 30th anniversary of Showgirls and the elements of glamour and fashion, and bringing that together with [Betsey's] beautiful designs and nods to the now cult classic.

"It was this beautiful marriage of two worlds."

In the campaign, Berkley is seen wearing feathered headdresses, a black sparkly blazer, an iridescent purple robe with feather trim and a silver leotard covered in sequins.

A press release for the campaign explained: "The campaign reimagines the cult-classic film through Betsey's iconic lens of bold color, camp theatrics, and all-out confidence, inviting everyone to own their spotlight and stand out this season ... [It] blends fantasy and nostalgia into pure show-stopping spectacle."

Designer Johnson told the publication: "My clothes are always controlled by the person inside them. It's the woman who makes the clothes, not the other way around.

"I think that's what's so beautiful about the showgirls theme, which is pulled off so beautifully by Elizabeth. It can be loved and played with confidently. The most beautiful a woman can be, to me, is a showgirl."

Berkley revealed the campaign was a "full circle moment" for her as she actually wore a Betsey Johnson dress to her audition for her part in the movie.

She added: "I wore a Betsey Johnson floral print dress with a black slip underneath for my Showgirls audition when I was 20.

"But even before that, when I was 15 turning 16 and working on Saved by the Bell, I was so drawn to wear Betsey.

"My first few paychecks from the show were spent at the Betsey Johnson store on Melrose. So for me, in many ways, her clothes were my cape."

In the press release for the campaign, the actress added: "Betsey's designs have always embodied confidence, bold individuality, and playfulness.

"Like the perfect mixtape, her clothing has been the soundtrack to so many memories, marking different ages, stages, and milestones in my life.

"To now celebrate this full circle moment - the anniversary of 'Showgirls' and this beautiful campaign with Betsey, truly feels like magic."
