Boxing Day's punching below its weight

New figures confirm that Kiwis prefer Black Friday as their sales day of choice.

Paymark figures show that it processed 150 million dollars through its network yesterday, up almost four percent on last year.

However, on Black Friday last month, the company processed more than 250 million dollars in transactions.

Paymark says the imported shopping event, which is inspired by America's post-Thanksgiving sales blitz, tends to kick off Christmas shopping for local consumers.
