Federated Farmers are asking the Government to change tax legislation for farmers dealing with Mycoplasma bovis

Federated Farmers are asking the Government to change tax legislation for farmers dealing with Mycoplasma bovis

Farmers on the National Standard Cost Scheme owning cows culled under notice by MPI are liable for the tax.

They want rules changed so farmers forced to cull aren't disadvantaged by the tax regime.

Federated Farmers economic spokesperson Andrew Hoggard says a hefty tax bill isn't fair.

He says a solution is to let farmers to write the stock as the same values as the animals they replaced.
