Parts of the Far North are under tougher water restrictions as the region's supply begins to run low

Kawakawa, Moerewa and Kaitaia are now back under level two water restrictions, which include a ban on unattended garden hoses connected to the council supply.

While locals and visitors are urged to conserve their use, Councillor Kelly Stratford doesn't believe they'll need to impose tougher rules.

She says this is as long as the region gets some rain and people continue to save water.
