    Road safety is everyone's responsibility

    Road safety is everyone's responsibility

That's the stern message from Police, after eight people have died in car crashes over a tragic Easter weekend.

The National Road Policing Centre Director is urging motorists to drive slow, safe and sober - and stay focused.

Superintendent Steve Greally says speed often determines whether someone walks away or is carried away from a crash.

He warns drugs and alcohol are a factor in a third of fatal crashes, and says they'll also target drivers using phones.

Greally says there is no text, post or call important enough to risk your life for.
